- Origin
- This group is beginning of R. serpyllifolium native to Japan. Reportedly, it is most vigorously cultivated in Genroku.
- Characteristics
- Low, much-branched shrub, shoots slender. Branching pattern differs from another wild azaleas native to Japan, for shoots elongate resting buds of biennial branches easily.
- Inflorescense 1-2flowered. Corolla diameter 1.2-1.6cm. Pistil and stamens are longer than corolla. Leaves oblanceolate, 8-20×3-6mm. Shade hardness is strong.
