- Origin
- Introduced to England during 1850's from China but its origin is unknown. From the characteristics of the flowers,it is considerad to be from hybrid originally.
- Distribution:Originally China.
- Characteristics
- Flowers:Deep-pink,6-9 petals,small,3.5-4cm in diameter,trumpet shape. Both flower shape and color is pretty,so it is very popular.Flowering inJanuary to March.
- Leaves:Elliptic to oblong-elliptic,5-8cm long and 2-3cm wide,green to yellow-green,less shiny. Lateral veins are slightly rise to the upper surface.
- Branching tendency is not so strong,branches grow long and tend to develop rough tree shape.
- Uses
- Although reported that 2n=45,it sometimes fructificates,and several hybrids of this species have been reported.
