- Origin
- Native to China,but introduced to Japan via the United States around 1960. Distribution:Central and south-east China.
- Characteristics
- Flowers:White,with slightly pink-edged outer petals,6-7 petals,very small, 2-2.5cm in diameter,cup shape,petal edges curve outward. Flowering in February to April.
- Leaves:Ovate-lanceolate to oblong-elliptic,caudate apex,6-7cm long and 1.5-2cm wide,shining,dark-green.Venation is obscure.
- 2n=30.
- Uses
- Branching well and producing many flowers.It is often used for breeding,and many cultivars from interspecific hybridization have been grown practically.
