Explanations

Origin
This species was reported by Dr.Hu in 1965,and attracted attention as yellow camellia.It was called as a mythical flower for long, but a large number of scions and seeds were introduced to Japan from 1979 to 1982.
Itwas thought the first plant was introduced in October 1979,but the seeds,which was sent by Kunming Botaniccal Institute to Yoshiaki Ando,seem to have been first-introduced in December 1978.
Distribution:Kwangsi.
Characteristics
Flowers:Pure yellow, 9-11 petals, 5-7cm in diameter,peduncles about 1cmlong.Flowering in November to March.
Leaves:Narrow-elliptic to broad-lanceolate,11-19cm long and 4-7cm wide,shining,bright green,impressed along the veins.
2n=30.
Uses
Breeding material for yellow camellia.
