- In semi-shaded or occasionally shaded of forest margins and sago swamps. Along streams and in other wet areas where soil is clay or loamy.

- Notes
- This small seeded perennial is closely related to O. officinalis. In the Philippines a population exists where it is sympatric with O. officinalis (Panaud, 2007).
