ヒナアズキ [Vigna riukiuensis (Ohwi) Ohwi & Ohashi]

分類
Vigna riukiuensis はササゲ属（Vigna）アズキ亜属（Ceratotropis）に属する多年生の野生種である。Tateishi (1984)はV. riukiuensis を V.minima の変種と考え，V.minima var. minor と命名する提案をした。
Tateishi (1984)によれば，V.minima は種内多様性の高い種である。小葉は線形から卵形で，極端な例として Phaseolus heterohyllus と同定されていた標本のように同一固体に線形から卵形までの小葉が現れることもある。したがって小葉の形態を分類の基準に用いるのは不適当であると考えられるが， var.minor (Matum.) Tateishi は先がまるい円形から楕円形の小葉によって変種として分けられた。先が尖らない円形から楕円形の小葉をもつ var.minorは，明らかに一莢内の胚珠数が少なく（典型的 V.mimina が 9-12個であるのに対し var.minor では 7-9個）小葉に光沢があるという特徴をあわせ持つ。

分布
台湾および沖縄の海岸近く (Tateishi, 1984).
特徴
V.riukiuensis は，光沢のある先端の尖らない小葉を持つ。花は黄金色。
種皮は平滑で暗褐色。発芽は地下子葉型で初生葉は心形で葉柄がある。百粒重は，約1-1.4g。
遺伝資源として
我々は沖縄県の石垣島，西表島，与那国島で探索を行い V.riukiuensisを収集することができた (Tomooka et al.,1992, Egawa et al.,1990, 1991)。この種はこれらの島々の主として海岸に近い平地に自生していた。アズキゾウムシおよびヨツモンマメゾウムシに対する抵抗性を検定した結果V.riukiuensis はとくにヨツモンマメゾウムシに対して高い抵抗性を示した (Tomooka et al. 1992)。
