- スリランカのおもに湿潤気候帯から中間気候帯。東アフリカ、特にウガンダとアイボリーコースト
- 主な形態的特徴
- 花序の最下位の節の分枝は、ほとんどが1つ。根茎はつくらない。多年草。
- 生育地
- 森林性で、林縁や林内の開けた場所で、生育が旺盛。林内の小川や湿ったところでよくみられる。
- 潜在的有用性
- 病害虫抵抗性、野外の葉でふつう病害はみられないことから、病害抵抗性であろう。
- 備考
- 2つの大陸に分布する唯一のOryza種である。O. rhizomatisに近縁である。
