Satauma-dori(Black breasted red)(Ibaraki)

This breed is thought to derive from crosses between Shokoku, Shamo and other indigenous chicken in the Kagoshima area. . In 1943 Satsuma-dori was designated as natural monument by the Japanese Government.

Although this breed was used for cock-fighting, it is now kept mainly for fancy because of their beautiful appearance with abundant long tail feathers or meat production.
