Kinpa is one of Ko-shamo breeds, small sized Shamo, and originated Akita Prefecture and kept by breeders in Odate area, Akita Prefecture. The estimated population size of this breed is 200 to 300 and is threatened its survival.

Plumage color is black self and has pea comb and yellow shanks. Feathers of both sexes show rounded tip as specific character of this breed and tail feather are also rounded and similar between male and female. This breed was registered as one of Natural Monuments of Japan in 1959.
