We will use Internet Explorer 7 with JavaScript and Cookie enabled to provide an example.
Search criteria
- Category
Search by group such as “Fungus” or “Bacterium”. (Multiple selectable) - MAFF No.
Search by 6-digit ID called “MAFF Number”. Range specification using comma(or) and hyphen(between) is available. (e.g. 118089, 118147, 211368-211370). - Scientific name
Search by scientific name and major common name. The Auto-Completer suggests possible matches for entries you typed in this field. Multiple selection using comma and partial match options are available too. (e.g. Xantho [Prefix match] / rhizobium [Partial match]).- Perfect match: Completely consistent with...
- Prefix match: Starting with...
- Suffix match: Ending with...
- Partial match: Including...
- Designation
Search by designation described in the literature. Multiple selection using comma and partial match options are available. (e.g. S96, TNPG [Prefix match]). - Source
Search by source (scientific name and major popular name). Multiple selection using comma and partial match options are available. (e.g. Aspergillus, malt [Partial match]). - Location
Search by picking location. Individual specification (clicking while holding down the ctrl key) and range specification (clicking while holding down the shift key) are available. - Property
Search by property. Individual specification (clicking while holding down the ctrl key) and range specification (clicking while holding down the shift key) are available. - Options
Add other options to search criteria. - Search (Access Key: S)
Query the database. Each search criteria is joined by “AND” (set intersection). Empty fields will be ignored.
In the above-graphed case, search for microooganism category is Fungus, Bacterium or Plant virus and source starts with “oryza s” and having pathogenicity. - Reset (Access Key: R)
Reset search criteria.
Search result
- Total number of search results.
- You can download the result of your search as xls file up to 1000 items.
- The pager will appear when search result has more than 25 items. Pager is controllable by using the cursor keys and enter key.
- The essential data shown in tabular form. You can sort results in ascending order by clicking the column header.
- Detailed information will appear when you click the MAFF number. If you want to open it in a new window[tab], please click while holding down the Shift[Ctrl] key or drag and drop the MAFF number into the tab bar.
- Remarks
- A: Approved strain.
- R: Reference strain.
- T: Type strain.
- L: Literature information is available.
- S: Sequence data are available.
- The internal window shows detailed information. This window is movable by dragging the title bar.
- Close the internal window. Internal windows will be closed by reloading the whole page.
- Resize the internal window.
