Explanations

Origin
This species was introduced to Japan around 1962 from Hongkong and theUnited States,and there are several clones.
Distribution:Hongkong,Kwangtung.
Characteristics
Flowers:White,sometimes with delicate pink edge,7-10 petals,flat,very large,10-17cm in diameter,more than 500 stamens.Perules are grayish-brown,persistent in fruit.Flowering in November.
Leaves:Oblong-elliptic to elliptic,8-10cm long and 3-4cm wide,shining, dark-green and impressed along the veins,serrate.Vigorous,but branches are loose.
2n=60.
Uses
The flower is large, so it is often used as a parent of interspecific hybrids.
