Origin
Distributed centrd Kweichow province of China. Most of plants introduced before under this name were var.yunnanica.
The seedling grownfrom one seed introduced in 1981 by Yamazaki,the president of Seibu Department Store,has well defined characteristics of this species.
Distribution:Kweichow,Yunnan,Kwangsi,Hunnan,Szechuan.
Characteristics
Flowers:Deep-pink to white,5-6 petals,5-6cm in diameter.Flowering in December to April in south China.
Leaves:Oblong-elliptic to Oblanceolate-elliptic,5-10cm long and 2-3.5cmwide,slightly shining,deep-green. It is characteristics acuminate apex with pointed serrate.
2n=30.
