Explanations

Origin
A large number of seeds of this species was sent to England between 1910s and 1920s from China by a plant explorer,Forrest.
Introduced to Japan from the United States and England around 1960,a large number of clones have been introduced from Yunnan province since 1979.
Distribution:Yunnan,Szechuan.
Characteristics
Flowers:Deep-pink to white,6-7 petals,4-6cm in diameter.Flowering in February to April.
Leaves:Oblong-elliptic,3-5cm long and 1-2.5cm wide,shining,deep-green.Venation is relatively visible.
2n=30.
Uses
Hybrids having this species as a parent very often have soft pink flowers.
