Origin
Distributed from Amami-Oshima to central Formosa,and this species is usually included as C.japonica by Botanist, but sometimes it is distinguished because flowers are small and fine tube shape.
Also,it has been pointed out the numbers of both perules and ovules in ovary are larger compared to C.japonica.
Distribution:Japan(Amami-Oshima,Okinawa),Formosa.
Characteristics
Flowers:Red,5-6 petals,3-4cm in diameter.Flowering in February to April.
Leaves:Oblong-elliptic to elliptic,7-10cm long and 4-5cm wide,deep-green to dark-green.Venation is relatively obscure.
2n=30.
